Compute monitoring
Purpose
- Track live CPU, memory, disk and network usage across all virtual machines.
- Identify the busiest VM and the fullest disk at a glance.
- Compare usage over the last hour, day, week or month.
Prerequisites
- Minimum permission to view: compute.monitoring.read
- Metrics are read-only and Graphite-backed; this page displays telemetry only.
- This page does not configure alerts — see the note in Best Practices.
View compute metrics
Review usage across every VM visible to your account.
- Open Compute → Monitoring.
- Review the KPI tiles: VMs running, Peak VM, Disks and Hot disk.
- Select a time-range tab: 1H, 24H, 7D or 30D (24H is the default).
- Read the trend charts: CPU %, Memory %, Disk read (KiB/min), Disk write (KiB/min), Network (KiB/min) and Disk usage %.
- Narrow the view with the VM Name, Compute Quota and Storage Pool filters.
- Expected result: the dashboard shows current and historical metrics for the VMs matching your filters.
View a single VM's metrics
Drill into one VM from its detail page.
- Open Compute → Virtual Machines, open a VM, then select its Monitoring tab.
- Review the per-VM KPI tiles: CPU, Memory, Guest agent and Disks.
- Select a time range, then read the CPU %, Memory (GB), Disk read, Disk write, Network and Disk usage % charts.
- Expected result: the charts show that VM's metrics for the selected range.
Best Practices
- This page shows read-only metrics; to review alert findings, open Alerts from the top-bar bell (requires platform.alerts.read).
- Use the time-range tabs to tell short spikes apart from sustained load.
- A missing line usually means the VM is stopped or has no data for the selected range.
- Filter by Compute Quota or Storage Pool to isolate a noisy tenant or pool.
