Tenants

Purpose

  • Provision child accounts (tenants) under your organisation.
  • Give each tenant its own Account-Admin user at creation.
  • Set per-tenant compute and storage quotas with pay-as-you-go pricing.
  • Assign networks, ISOs, appliances, and templates to a tenant.
  • Switch into a tenant's context to administer it directly.

Prerequisites

  • Minimum permission to view: multitenancy.accounts.read
  • To create a tenant: multitenancy.accounts.create
  • To edit a tenant: multitenancy.accounts.update
  • To delete a tenant: multitenancy.accounts.delete
  • To set or edit quotas: organisation.quotas.create and organisation.quotas.update
  • To assign resources: multitenancy.networkassignments.create, multitenancy.isoassignments.create, multitenancy.applianceassignments.create, multitenancy.templateassignments.create
  • Tenants live one level below your account in the account hierarchy; you only see accounts within your scope.

View tenants

  1. Open Multi-tenancy → Tenants.
  2. Review the child accounts table showing name, status, and created date.
  3. Select a row and use Delete to remove that account, or click a name to open its details.
  4. Expected result: the list shows every child account visible to you, with newly created accounts marked Creating until they become Active.

Create a tenant

A new tenant is created together with its first Account-Admin user.

  1. Open Multi-tenancy → Tenants, then select Add.
  2. Enter the Account Name.
  3. Enter the Admin Email, an optional Admin Display Name, and set the Admin Password (with confirmation).
  4. Set the Account Quotas for compute and storage.
  5. Optionally select Networks to expose to the account.
  6. Optionally expose ISOs, appliances, and templates under Media.
  7. Save the form.
  8. Expected result: the account is provisioned and appears in the Tenants list as Creating, then Active.

Set per-tenant quotas and pricing

  1. Open Multi-tenancy → Tenants and open a tenant.
  2. On the Quotas & Pricing card, select Create Quota if none exist, or Edit to change them.
  3. Adjust compute quotas (RAM and CPU per-hour pricing) and storage quotas (guaranteed size and GB per-hour pricing).
  4. Save your changes.
  5. Expected result: the Quotas & Pricing card reflects the updated compute and storage entries.

Assign resources to a tenant

  1. Open Multi-tenancy → Tenants and open a tenant.
  2. On the Networks, ISOs, Appliances, or Templates card, select Assign.
  3. Choose the items to expose to this tenant and save.
  4. Expected result: the assigned items appear on the tenant's detail cards and become available inside that account.

Edit or delete a tenant

  1. Open Multi-tenancy → Tenants.
  2. To edit, open the Edit Account form and update the account name and status (Active or Inactive), then save.
  3. To delete, select the account and choose Delete, then confirm.
  4. If the account still owns resources, a blockers list explains what must be removed first.
  5. Expected result: the account is updated, or removed once no blockers remain.

Best Practices

  • Give each tenant a clear, unique account name.
  • Set quotas at creation so a tenant cannot over-consume shared capacity.
  • Assign only the networks, ISOs, appliances, and templates a tenant actually needs.
  • Resolve deletion blockers by cleaning up the tenant's resources before deleting the account.
  • Use Inactive status to suspend a tenant instead of deleting it when access is only paused.
