Account quotas

Purpose

• View the compute and storage quotas allocated to your account.
• See current usage against each limit as a progress bar.
• Distinguish capacity used by your own VMs from capacity delegated to child accounts.
• Spot quotas nearing their limit before they block new resources.

Prerequisites

• Minimum permission to view: organisation.quotas.read
• To create new quotas for an account: organisation.quotas.create
• To change existing quotas: organisation.quotas.update
• Quotas are shown for your active account context.

View account quotas

The page shows two cards, Compute Quotas and Storage Quotas.

1. Open Organisation → Quotas.
2. On the Compute Quotas card, review Physical Guaranteed (GHz), Physical Burstable Limit (GHz), Power On Limit (vCPU), Physical Guaranteed (GB), Physical Burstable Limit (GB), and Power On Limit (GB).
3. On the Storage Quotas card, review storage used against the guaranteed limit (GB).
4. Read the split beneath each compute bar to see VM usage versus capacity delegated to child accounts.
5. Expected result: each metric shows current usage over its limit, and bars change to a warning colour as usage passes about 80%.

Change an account's quotas

Quotas are allocated per account and managed from the owning tenant.

1. Open Multi-tenancy → Tenants and select the account.
2. Open the account's quota create or edit form.
3. Set the storage and compute allocations, keeping each Max at or above its Guarantee.
4. Save to apply.
5. Expected result: the account's updated quotas are reflected on the Quotas page.

Best Practices

• Set each burstable or maximum limit at or above its guaranteed value.
• Leave headroom on guaranteed capacity before delegating it to child accounts.
• Review quotas when usage bars approach the limit to avoid blocking new VMs or disks.
• Keep storage guarantees aligned with the pools your account actually uses.
