How to install VMease

Overview

• VMease installs as a single all-in-one appliance — you run an installer on a Debian 13 virtual machine that you provide.
• The installer sets everything up on that one machine and gives you a web address to finish setup in your browser.
• You don't need to prepare a database, web server, or any other software beforehand — the installer handles all of it.

What you need

• A Debian 13 virtual machine with at least 4 vCPUs, 8 GB of RAM, and a 50 GB system disk.
• A second, blank disk attached to that VM on the SCSI bus, 150 GB or more recommended — VMease uses it for the media library, and its contents are erased during install.
• A static IP address, gateway, and DNS configured on the VM before you start.
• Internet access during installation (the appliance can run offline afterwards).
• Network connectivity between the appliance and your Proxmox host(s).
• The VMease installer file, provided by VMease.
• A web browser to complete setup.

Install VMease

1. Copy the VMease installer onto the Debian 13 VM.
2. Open a terminal on the VM, log in as the root user, and run the installer.
3. Answer the on-screen questions — a site name, your network details, and your timezone. Each has a sensible default you can accept.
4. When prompted, confirm the disk to use for the media library. Its existing contents are erased, so make sure it is the blank second disk.
5. Let the installer run — this typically takes 10 to 20 minutes.
6. When it finishes, save the credentials it displays somewhere safe, such as a password manager.

Expected result: the installer shows the web address for your new VMease appliance.

Finish in your browser

1. Open the web address the installer showed you (for example, https://your-appliance-ip).
2. Your browser may warn about the site's security certificate the first time — this is expected for a freshly installed appliance; continue to the site.
3. Complete the setup wizard to finish configuring VMease and connect your first cluster (click here)
