Managing users

Purpose

  • View all users in scope
  • Add new users
  • Open user details
  • Update user passwords
  • Remove users when deprovisioning access

Prerequisites

  • Minimum permission to view users: accesscontrol.users.read
  • Minimum permission to create/update users: accesscontrol.users.create
  • Higher/full management actions (for example delete): typically require accesscontrol.users.*
  • Ensure you are in the correct account context before making changes.

View Users

  1. Open Access Control → Users.
  2. Review the users table for current access population.
  3. Use row selection/details navigation to inspect specific users.
  4. Expected result: User records are visible when accesscontrol.users.read is granted.

Create a New User

  1. In Users, select Add New User.
  2. Enter required user information.
  3. Submit the form.
  4. Confirm the new user appears in the users list.
  5. Expected result: User is created and becomes available for role/permission assignment workflows.

View User Details

  1. From the users list, open the target user.
  2. Review identity/account details and related access metadata.
  3. Validate role/group alignment with intended access profile.
  4. Expected result: Admin can verify whether assigned access matches job function.

Update User Password

  1. Open the target user action for password update.
  2. Enter and confirm new credential value per policy.
  3. Save and confirm success status.
  4. Expected result: User password is reset/updated and available for next login.

Delete Users (Controlled Deprovisioning)

  1. Select one or more users in the users list.
  2. Click Delete.
  3. Confirm deletion in the dialog.
  4. Verify users are removed from the table.
  5. Expected result: Users are deprovisioned and access is revoked.

Best Practices

  • Use consistent naming conventions for user accounts.
  • Assign roles immediately after user creation.
  • Review user list regularly for stale/inactive accounts.
  • Document user create/delete actions in change records.
  • Pair user deprovisioning with role/group membership cleanup.
