Getting started
Find resources fast, get help, and track background operations from the VMEase top bar.
Getting started
Purpose
- Jump straight to any resource or page with global search.
- Open documentation and raise bugs or feature requests from the Help menu.
- Watch background operations progress and complete in the Task Manager.
Prerequisites
- These tools are available to every signed-in user from the top bar.
- No specific permission is required; global search returns only the resources you are permitted to see.
Search across VMEase
- Select the search box in the top bar.
- Type at least two characters; results appear as you type.
- Pick a result to jump to it, or press Enter to open the first result.
- Look for the "Page" badge to open an app page rather than a resource.
- Press Escape to clear the box.
- Expected result: navigation straight to the matching resource or page.
Get help and raise requests
- Open the Help (?) menu in the top bar.
- Select Documentation to open the VMEase documentation in a new tab.
- Select Raise a Bug to open the bug report form (/raise-bug).
- Select Raise a Feature Request to open the request form (/raise-feature-request).
Track background tasks
VMEase queues state-changing work for its workers and reports progress here.
- Open the Task Manager icon in the top bar.
- Review the recent tasks; a badge flags how many are new.
- Read each task's action, resource, and status (pending, processing, completed, or failed).
- Select View All Tasks to open the full task list (/tasks).
- On the Task Manager page, filter by date range and review the Created, Resource Type, Resource Name, Action, Status, and Progress columns.
- Expected result: visibility into the asynchronous operations VMEase is running for you.
Best Practices
- Use global search instead of walking the sidebar when you can name the resource.
- Raise a bug or feature request from the Help menu so it reaches the right place.
- Check the Task Manager after a state-changing action to confirm the worker completed it.
