Tenant billing

Purpose

  • See combined usage and cost across every account you manage.
  • Break costs down by account, resource group, or component.
  • Filter by account, resource group, resource type, and date range.
  • Compare cost trends and per-resource detail over time.

Prerequisites

  • Minimum permission to view: multitenancy.billing.read
  • This is the multi-account view; a single account's own costs are shown under Organisation → Billing.
  • Costs use temporal (point-in-time) pricing, so historical figures reflect the pricing in force at the time.
  • Amounts are shown in GBP.

View tenant billing

  1. Open Multi-tenancy → Billing.
  2. Select the accounts to include and set the date range.
  3. Optionally filter by resource group and resource type.
  4. Under Cost Breakdown, switch between By Account, By Resource Group, and By Component.
  5. Read the summary cards, cost matrix, donut chart, and cost trend chart.
  6. Review the Billing Detail table for per-resource costs.
  7. Expected result: usage and cost figures update to match the selected accounts, filters, and date range.

Best Practices

  • Narrow the date range before drilling into a specific account or resource group.
  • Use By Account to compare tenants, and By Component to see what drives a bill.
  • Clear filters between reviews so you do not misread a partial view as the total.
