Shared resources

Purpose

• Share networks (VLANs and VNets) with child accounts.
• Share ISOs, appliances, and VM templates with child accounts.
• Grant several accounts access to a resource in one action.
• Revoke a resource assignment from a tenant.

Prerequisites

• Minimum permission to view: multitenancy.networkassignments.read
• To assign or remove networks: multitenancy.networkassignments.create and multitenancy.networkassignments.delete
• To assign or remove ISOs: multitenancy.isoassignments.create and multitenancy.isoassignments.delete
• To assign or remove appliances: multitenancy.applianceassignments.create and multitenancy.applianceassignments.delete
• To assign or remove templates: multitenancy.templateassignments.create and multitenancy.templateassignments.delete
• Only resources you own or that are assigned to you are shown.
• At least one child account must exist before you can assign anything.

View shared resources

1. Open Multi-tenancy → Shared Resources.
2. Review the overview cards for Networks, ISOs, Appliances, and Templates.
3. Click a card to open that resource type's assignments list.
4. Expected result: each list shows the current assignments for that resource type.

Assign a resource to tenants

1. Open Multi-tenancy → Shared Resources and open the Networks, ISOs, Appliances, or Templates tab.
2. Select Assign.
3. Choose one or more child accounts.
4. Select the resources to share with them.
5. Save the assignments.
6. Expected result: the chosen accounts gain access to the selected resources; any conflicts are listed instead of being applied.

Remove a shared assignment

1. Open Multi-tenancy → Shared Resources and open the relevant resource tab.
2. Select the assignment row or rows to revoke.
3. Select Delete and confirm.
4. Expected result: the selected accounts lose access to those resources.

Best Practices

• Share only the resources a tenant genuinely needs.
• Review assignment lists periodically and revoke access that is no longer required.
• Remove shared assignments before deleting a tenant to clear deletion blockers.
